This article explains what PCI compliance is, how Peek protects payment information, and what happens when card data is processed through our system. We take the security of sensitive information seriously, and our goal is to ensure a safe, compliant experience for both you and your customers.
What Is PCI Compliance?
PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a global security standard for any organization that handles credit card information.
Its purpose is to:
Protect cardholder data
Prevent fraud
Reduce the risk of chargebacks
Peek follows PCI DSS requirements to keep payment information secure throughout the checkout process.
How Does Peek Ensure a Secure Checkout?
Peek uses bank-level security, including strong encryption, to make sure that all credit card information is collected, transmitted, and stored according to industry security and compliance standards.
This ensures that sensitive data is protected at every step of the payment process.
Peek undergoes and passes required PCI compliance assessments. This verifies that our systems and processes follow established security standards designed to reduce the risk of credit card fraud.
How Card Data Is Processed Through Swipers
When using a card swiper or chip reader, Peek Pro follows a secure, multi-step process:
The chip reader encrypts the card data.
The Peek Pro mobile app decrypts the data so it can be processed.
The app re-encrypts the information and sends it to the payment processor.
All card data is transmitted over SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to ensure a protected connection.
This layered approach helps safeguard payment information from the moment a card is read to the final processing step.
