Why am I seeing the "Keep Your Account Safe" screen when logging in?
If you are seeing a screen titled "Keep Your Account Safe" after entering your password, your account now requires Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This means that in addition to your password, you will need to provide a unique 6-digit code to verify your identity. This prevents unauthorized users from accessing your account even if they know your password. This is a mandatory security measure to protect your business data.
How do I enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
When you reach the Keep Your Account Safe screen, follow these steps to complete your setup:
-
Choose Your Method: Select either SMS (Text Message) or Authenticator App.
SMS: Enter your mobile number to receive a 6-digit verification code text message.
-
Authenticator App: Open an app like Google Authenticator on your phone and scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.
Verify: Enter the 6-digit code provided by the Authenticator app or via Text on your phone into the Peek Pro login screen.
Finish: Once verified, you will be logged in. Moving forward, you’ll be prompted to enter a new authentication code whenever you sign in.
See additional details below for in-depth steps on each method.
SMS (Text Message)
This is the simplest method if you prefer to receive your codes via a standard text message.
Enter Your Number: On the Keep Your Account Safe screen, select SMS. Choose your country code and enter your mobile phone number.
-
Receive the Code: You will immediately receive a text message from a short-code number containing a 6-digit verification code.
Verify: Type that code into the Peek Pro screen and click Continue.
Future Logins: Next time you sign in, Peek will send a new text message to this number.
Note: If you change your phone number in the future, you must contact trust@peek.com to reset this connection.
Authenticator App
An authenticator app is the most secure way to protect your account. It generates a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds, even if your phone doesn't have a cellular signal.
1. Get the App.
If you don’t have one yet, download a trusted authenticator app from your phone's app store. Example: Google Authenticator (iOS / Android).
💡Note: We suggest the Google Authenticator App. If you need a step-by-step walkthrough on how to install the authenticator app, check out this guided how to video or article Get verification codes with Google Authenticator.
2. Connect Your Account (Two Ways)
Method A: Scan the QR Code (Easiest)
-
Open the authenticator app on your phone and tap the + (plus) icon. Select Scan a QR code.
-
Point your phone camera at the square barcode on your computer screen.
A new entry labeled "Peek Pro" will appear in your authenticator app list with a 6-digit code.
Method B: Use a Setup Key (If you can't scan) If your camera isn't working, or if you are logging in on your mobile device and can't scan your own screen:
-
On the Peek Pro Secure Your Account Safe screen, select Trouble Scanning?
-
Copy the alphanumeric Setup Key that appears.
-
In your authenticator app, tap the + icon and select Enter a setup key (or "Manual Entry").
-
Enter "Peek Pro" as the Account Name and paste the key into the Your Key field. Ensure Time based is selected and tap Add.
3. Finalize the Login
Look at the 6-digit code currently showing for "Peek Pro" in your app.
Type that 6-digit code into the Peek Pro login screen one-time code field on your computer and select Continue. A new code is generated every ~30 seconds in your app.
Pro Tip: If the code is red or about to expire (it circles down), wait for a fresh one to appear before typing it in to ensure you have enough time.
Success! Your account is now more secure. Moving forward, you’ll be prompted to enter a new code from your app whenever you sign in.
Troubleshooting & Access Issues
My Code is Being Rejected (Invalid Code)
If you are typing the code correctly from your authentication app but it is not being accepted, it is almost always a timing issue. Once the code refreshes on your screen, attempt to enter it again. A new code is generated every ~30 seconds in your app.
I No Longer Have Access to My Phone or Deleted My App
If you can no longer access your MFA codes, follow these steps:
Try Another Method: On the login screen, after entering your password, select Try another method. If you have an email backup or a recovery code, you can use those to get in.
Reset Your MFA: If you are unable to receive your codes or have further issues email our team at trust@peek.com for further assistance.
