Channel Management is a great tool to automate pricing and keep track of what commissions are owed for bookings that come from your network of reseller channels. Each of your resellers can be set up as a channel in Peek Pro with its own commission and pricing structure that gets automatically applied when you make a booking with that channel.
How to set up a new channel:
- Go to Channels and then select Resellers in the left-hand menu
- In the Add New Resellers box, select whether this channel will have Real-Time Price or Catalog access
-
- Selecting Real Time Prices means that the channel will have access to all of your products listed in Peek Pro at the price that is listed in Peek Pro.
- Selecting Catalog as the channel type means that you can create a Net Rate Sheet for the channel that restricts which products and tickets a reseller (channel) has access to. This also lets the reseller (channel) sell tickets at a different price than the one listed on your website.
Please note that if you give a reseller (channel) Real Time Price access, you will not be able to switch it to catalog access later. You will need to re-create a Real Time Price channel as a Catalog based channel and then disable the channel you no longer need.
- Add in a name for your Reseller (Channel) and select which currency they will be selling your products in. For reporting purposes, you will need to create a separate channel per currency if you allow a channel to sell in different currencies
- After saving the base information, the detailed level of information on the reseller (channel) will open up. Select the type of channel to help categorize the type of reseller you're working with: Online Travel Agent, Hotel Concierge, Travel Agent, Visitor Center, Daily Deal Site or Other.
- Add in any specific notes that you want to have about the channel.
-
- These are for you to remember any special booking instructions or terms of your agreement.
- Under the Contact section, fill out the channel contact name, phone number, and email address.
- Set up the commission structure for your reseller (channel) and whether this channel will get paid out for their commission by you or if you need to invoice them to get paid for the bookings they sent your way
- If you will need to issue a commission payment to the reseller (channel), select Make a Payment.
- If the reseller (channel) is going to collect payment for customers and then issue vouchers, select Issue Invoice.
- This means that you will issue an invoice to the channel to collect payment for all of the customers they sent you after the tour.
- Set up the commission rate for the channel
- You have the option to have either a percentage per ticket-based commission or a flat rate per ticket commission structure.
- If you have selected 'Catalog' access, you can change the commission rate for individual tickets. Otherwise, each ticket a channel is allowed to sell will use the same commission rate set for the channel
- Select if the commission should be calculated off of the base price of the ticket or off of the list price of the ticket
- Use From Base Price if you include taxes in your ticket price and only want the channel to earn a commission off of the pre-tax price.
- Use From Listed Price if you don't include taxes in your ticket price and want the channel to earn a commission off of the listed price.
- Hit Save & Activate Reseller.
- This will activate the channel so that it can be used to create bookings.
- If you just hit Save, the channel will not be activated yet, but you can come back to activate it later.
Your new channel should now be visible in your list of channels. If you aren't seeing it on the first screen, check to see if the channel is under the Unbookable status.
If you have a channel listed under the Unbookable status, this means that you have not yet activated the channel and it cannot be used to create a booking.
To activate the channel, click on the channel and then hit Save and Activate Channel at the bottom. You can always edit the details of a channel by clicking on View next to the channel name in your channel's list.
Don't forget to hit save whenever you make changes!
How to disable a reseller:
- Navigate to Channels on the left-side menu
- Select Resellers
- Choose View on the desired Reseller
- Select Disable Reseller in the right corner of the screen
- Read the warning pop-up and select OK
